Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a teenaged boy with severe social anxiety disorder, who fabricates a friendship with a deceased classmate in a misguided attempt to comfort the grieving family. As his lies compound and multiply, Evan Hansen gets everything he ever wanted: popularity, a shiny new family, and the girl of his dreams; but, eventually, Evan must decide if he will give himself over to the fantasy life he has created or risk losing everything by coming clean and being honest.
